An adaptation of Mitsuyo Kakuta’s novel entitled ‘Rebith’ the film won 11 awards at the recent 35th Japan Academy Prize. The story revolves around Kiwako who kidnaps a six month old baby and raises the child as her own. The child grows up into an awkward and shy girl who eventually gets involved with a married man. After getting pregnant, Erina travels to her homeland and discovers hidden truths about her past.
