It’s hard to believe that you’re in JB when you step through white French doors into the storybook interior. Initially established as a cosy escape for friends to gather and hang out in, in 2 years this cute little outlet has grown into a much-talked about haunt among many outside its regular circle. A team effort, with friends Joey, TC and Halim adding their own inimitable touches to help make That’s Café a product of love, mismatched antique chairs and tables add character to the space while toys and junkyard knick-knacks put the finishing touches to the dreamlike existence.

Upstairs affords some private lounging and a boutique selling vintage and pre-loved items from Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand and Europe, while the attic is home to a hair salon run by Halim, the man behind the Junk Junkies’ flea market, held monthly on the street outside.

The only alcohol served here is Carlsberg at RM11.90/bottle, RM50/bucket of 5 bottles. Pure fruit juices and yoghurt smoothies are de rigueur with the passion fruit, mango and dragon fruit (RM8.90-RM9.90) leading the pack, but the house speciality is the chocolate coffee (RM6.90 hot, RM7.90 iced, RM8.90 ice-blended). All prices are nett.

Local and Western. Go for the chicken chop (RM15.90), mushroom chicken pasta (RM11.90) and New Zealand mussels (RM12.90/half dozen). All prices are nett.
