Occupying the rooftop of Menara Pan Global, a bar like Luna is a true gem, giving life to a somewhat tired block that years ago housed the legendary Backroom club. Luna offers a 360-degree breathtaking panorama of the city, even better than some rooftop venues around Kuala Lumpur; being practically next to the KL Tower also gives it bragging rights. Plush and cosy booths with their own private windows are lined up along the sides of a swimming pool, where at one corner stands the control tower that stores the DJ console. Upstairs, a terrace (with a second bar) offers guests a view of the entire venue and an even elevated landscape of the skyline.

No rooftop bar with a pool can get away without a pretty cocktail list. Here it’s called Luna Specialties, which include Apollo 13 (champagne with rum, peach liqueur, midori lemon and mango juice; RM38), Mr Flirty Nutty (vodka, Frangelico, Kahlua, Bailey’s Irish cream, fresh cream, nuts and chocolate stick; RM29), Luna Eclectic (vodka, red bull, cranberry juice and sweet & sour mix; RM29) and the ever-sinful silent killer, Frozen Space Cookie (vodka, coffee liqueur, butterscotch, baileys, Oreos cookie and whipped cream; RM29).

Luna’s Thai Fried Chicken Wings (spring chicken wings soaked in a secret marinate sauce and fried crispy brown; RM24) are addictive. If you’re in for the full swing, share a plate of the Luna Mixed Grill (beef tenderloin, lamb cutlets, home-made sausages, battered mussels, prawns and spiced potato wedges; RM69)  or be adventurous and try out their brand new Green Curry Pizza (RM36).
