Bedroom KL

Far from sleepy
Unlike Asian cities like the jumping Hong Kong and Shanghai, and buzzing Bangkok and Jakarta, KL is pretty horizontal in its approach. Our pace is so steadfastly unhurried, why fight it? Bedroom hasn’t, instead choosing to embrace KL’s ways by taking it to a whole other level – Pavilion’s 6th level. Nestled behind adjoining restaurant Markethall, Bedroom is a where the city’s beautiful come to unravel after work/ shopping and watch the sun set on the business district through its floor-to-ceiling windows. For such a chic place – midway between Laundry and Rootz – Bedroom is surprisingly unpretentious, and its music policy as eclectic, experimental and exquisitely mixed as its cocktails.
House and electro but Monsoon Records, who manages the line up and choice of tunage have QC duties ensuring the envelope is firmly pushed. There’s a rotation of different DJs every night and weekends have given way to left field internationals DJs and sound systems often with live vocal or visuals.
Presided over by mixologist Christian Kinne, at the bar imaginative cocktails are expertly mixed, flavours delicately balanced and then shaken to hell. On tap are Heineken, Guinness, Paulaner and Tiger. Wines are available by the glass and bottle and heavenly cocktails like Dream Cloud (Absolut Blue, lime juice, vanilla, half and half, strawberries, blueberries), Pillow Talk (Absolut Citron, lime, Creme de Cassis, champagne, fresh mint, raspberries, blackberries) and Beau (Bombay Sapphire, cucumber, bitters, lime juice, tonic water) are available by the jug. Teetotalers aren’t left out – the detox juices are just as delicious. It pays to get to Bed early – prices on beers, wines and cocktails are cheaper before 10pm. Bedroom serves up modern Australian food from Markethall’s kitchen until 10.30pm.
